Highnam Court was built in 1658 after the original house was seriously damaged in the Civil War. It is one of the few houses built during the Commonwealth period. The design of the houses is linked to Ernest Carter who was a pupil of Inigo Jones.
Since 1994, Roger Head has owned and lovingly restored the house and gardens to their former glory, with many new additions being made to compliment and enhance the original design.
Highnam Court is located in central Gloucestershire and has a lot to offer with manicured, award winning, formal, informal and oriental gardens, on-site equestrian facilities, lakes, woodland, and one of the finest privately owned country houses in the country.
The Gardens at Highnam Court are open for a few carefully curated events throughout the year. We also open for the National Garden Scheme or the Pied Piper Appeal on select days.
